Experience

Mahmood has nearly 28 years of experience in Infrastructure, SME (including Engineering, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Engineering Services), and Power sectors in mainly South Asia. In the last decade, Mahmood has accumulated rich senior management experience, working with stakeholders at the highest level (government, entrepreneurs, DFIs, and other participants). Most recently, he was the Senior Energy & Water Infrastructure Advisor – Office of Afghanistan & Pakistan Affairs USAID, charged with project evaluation with a focus on micro-hydro and energy efficiency. He was formerly, Director, Business Development – Asia / Chief Executive Officer, Globeleq Pakistan, and built/managed a portfolio of asset generating assets that became one of the leading CDC-backed funds. Prior to CDC, Mahmood was the International Vice President / Managing Director (South Asia) for El Paso Energy USA where he scripted and executed the entire regional strategy based on growth via acquisition in Pakistan and Bangladesh. He was also employed as a General Manager (Pakistan), Wartsila Corporation, actively worked with project sponsors and developers, led contract negotiations for EPC & O&M.
